Government Level :-

Additional Chief Secretary is posted at Mantralaya at government level and Under them, Deputy Secretary (Establishment) Deputy Secretary (Technical), Under Secretary (Establishment), Under Secretary (Technical) are working.

Engineer In Chief Office ( Head of the Department) :-

Engineer in chief is heading as head of the department in the headquarters. In addition, the Engineer in Chief (Advisor) is also posted in the headquarters. A post of the Chief Engineer for Director (S&I) is also sanctioned in the department. There are 5 Zone (four civil and one Electrical and Mechanical) offices in the state, which are under the Chief Engineers. The information about various posts sanctioned in the department is as follows: -

Zonal Offices :-
The field level establishment of the department is divided into five Zones, in which four zones looks after the civil work and one E&M Zone looks after the E&M works. Zonal Headquarters are situated in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur respectively. For Civil work there are Bhopal and Narmadapuram Revenue Division under Bhopal Zone, Indore and Ujjain Revenue Division under Indore Zone, Gwalior, Chambal and Sagar Revenue Division under Gwalior Zone, and, Rewa and Shahdol Revenue Districts under Jabalpur Zone Jabalpur. There is a Chief Engineer (E&M) in the department, whose headquarters is situated in Bhopal and his work area is the whole state. The work of tube well drilling through departmental drilling machines is under their control.

Circle Offices :-
A total of 12 Circle offices, including Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Sagar, Panna, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, Chambal and Chhindwara, are presently established in 11 revenue divisions. Through which the works of different schemes are done and administrative control is maintained on subordinate Division and Sub Divisions. Apart from the above, two Project Circle offices are established in Bhopal and Indore respectively for the implementation of urban water supply schemes. Each Circle office is under the Superintending Engineer.

Division Offices :-
In all the 51 districts of Madhya Pradesh, 55 Civil Divisions and in 7 revenue divisional headquarters i.e Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Sagar and Rewa 7 E&M Division are established. In Mandaleshwar one E&M Division is working under Municipal Corporation Indore. Apart from this, 5 project Divisions, 6 Maintenance Division, 1 Quality Control Unit Division Bhopal are established.

There are 204 Civil Sub-Division offices and 47 E&M Sub Division are establishedin 46 districts. Every subdivision office is under the control of Assistant Engineer. E&m Sub Divisions are not established In 5 districts i.e. Burhanpur, Ashoknagar, Anuppur, Alirajpur and Agar respectively.

Water Testing Laboratory :-

State Level:- There is a State Research Laboratory established at the state level in the state, which is under the control of Chief Chemist biologist, and executed there work under the Quality Control Unit Division Bhopal.

District level: - There are 51 district level drinking water testing laboratories i.e one in each district is established, these laboratory work under the control of Executive Engineer.

Subdivision level:- In each district, each sub-Division level drinking water testing laboratory is established , sub-division level laboratories operate under the control of the Assistant Engineer.
